Destiny Events, Embrace and Electronic Nation are pleased to announce the 16th annual World Electronic Music Festival will take place August 17th to 19th in South Algonquin. Previous WEMF years have seen headline artists such as Deadmau5, Skrillex, Rusko, Calvin Harris, Paul Oakenfold, Pendulum and hundreds more. Stay tuned for the unveiling of this year’s lineup scheduled for early March!

In celebration of all things WEMF, we are once again offering a very special “for those who know” pre-release ticket sale. At 10:00AM on Wednesday, February 1st, the first 1000 3-day tickets to WEMF 2012 will be made available for online purchase for only $179 (plus service charge). Notice of this sale is going out to our dedicated mailing list and posted on our website but no artists will be announced until after the sale. Pre-release tickets have sold out in less than 48hrs in previous years, so mark your calendar and get them quick!

The first block of tickets will ONLY be available online at www.ticketweb.com and www.livenation.com.

After the first block of tickets are sold, we will release additional blocks of 1000, available both online and in stores at higher increments so be sure to get yours early in the process for maximum value!
**Please note that all ticket prices include tax.  Vendor service fee is not included and will be added to your ticket at time of purchase.  Initial presale is available online only.  Additional ticket outlets and ticket types will be announced.

All tickets are valid for UNLIMITED IN and OUTS on ALL THREE DAYS and include B.Y.O.B. CAMPING. WEMF is produced for a mature audience. Recommend age is 18+ and you MUST be at least 16 years of age to attend. You must be 19+ with valid ID to bring or consume alcohol at your campsite.

ALL patrons will be required to sign an event participation waiver prior to entry that will be available ahead of time on our website at wemf.com.

With WEMF organizers and patrons booking hundreds of hotel rooms, purchasing food and beverages from local establishments, utilizing local gas stations and shopping at local retailers, local vendors, artisans, restaurateurs, and hoteliers are in high demand and have the potential to make a large portion of their annual income during the course of the weekend. WEMF is speculating that with the increase in consumption of local commodities and services, businesses and individuals in Madawaska, Barry’s Bay, Whitney, Bancroft and the surrounding areas, can expect a financial injection of up to $500K between them.

WEMF is also responsible for creating local employment opportunities, as the organizers of the festival strive to source many of its occupational requirements locally. Job opportunities are available in a variety of fields.

Long-term, WEMF’s tourism value is exponential, as it introduces thousands of people to an absolutely stunning area of the province. WEMF is over 50% sold-out and has already sold tickets in 19 States and 5 Provinces. With the attendants of the festival traveling in from all sides of North America, the South Algonquin community can expect future economic gains, as many festival goers will return to the area to rent cottages or make use of other tourist attractions.

WEMF is determined to increase local cultural consumption by creating something new and interesting that appeals to the young and the young at heart from across the region and puts the community on the international stage. Dedicated to providing attendants with the best concert experience possible, this year a stronger emphasis is placed on developing and nurturing the festival community. WEMF 2011 will feature multiple stages that are created, funded and operated by WEMF ticket holders. All WEMF ticket holders that are looking for the opportunity to give back to the community can present their concept for a community stage to WEMF through a simple application process. WEMF will then decide which concepts work best for the festival. Destiny Event Productions is also hoping to make a significant donation to the local food bank by asking all attendees and food vendors to bring what they can for drop-off after the event.

Launched in 1995, WEMF has established itself as the ultimate experience for Electronic music and its culture, acting as a rite of passage for generations of fans and musicians alike. Past headliners have included some of the biggest names in Electronic music, including Deadmau5, MSTRKRFT, Paul Oakenfold, BT live, and Pendulum.

Continuing to build upon WEMF’s incredible success, the 15th annual WEMF promises to be bigger and better than ever before, featuring three days and two nights of non-stop music and entertainment, visual art displays, and over 200 performers from all over the world. Promoters for the World Electronic Music Festival (WEMF)–Canada’s premier three day electronic music experience has unveiled initial details of its highly anticipated line-up for the festival’s 15th annual installment. Set for Friday, August 12 to Sunday August 14 in the picturesque hills of Southern Ontario, WEMF2011 will once again be the largest event of its kind.

RUSKO

WEMF is proud to headline this year’s festival with one of the biggest names in electronic music today. While known for his dominance of dubstep, his sound now appeals to many people outside this world as his productions have became more adventurous in formula, sound and energy. His huge hit “Cockney Thug” has been played by everyone from Pete Tong, Switch, Diplo and Santogold. It has been remixed by Buraka Som sistema, Diplo, Drop the Lime and the Scratch Perverts. Rusko is now part of the Mad Decent Camp with collaborations on the horizon with the likes of Switch, Diplo , Santigold, Trouble Andrew, Hot Chip and more. Currently setting the radio airwaves alight with his own productions and remixes of artists such as The Prodigy, Basement Jaxx, Little Boots and plenty more, Rusko is only going in one direction. Onwards, upwards and far beyond any other young producer could dream of.

SKRILLEX

SKRILLEX is part of a new generation of artists that refuse to be restricted by preconceived notions or outside expectations. “Genre has never been important to me,” he insists. “I’ve never thought about music that way.” Describing his current sound as “a mix of dubstep, electro and glitch all thrown together,” new SKRILLEX release “SCARY MONSTERS AND NICE SPRITES” reflects all of the above and beyond. His live shows are renowned for their energy and intensity. Something that truly needs to be experienced at WEMF2011.

INFECTED MUSHROOM

Psy-Trance innovators Infected Mushroom have become one of the biggest electronic bands on the planet and we are very happy to have them headline WEMF2011. Twice ranked top 10 artists by the bible of the scene, the U.K.’s DJ Magazine, the Israel-bred, L.A. based duo bring a frenetic rock energy to the form. Their explosive show, featuring guitars, live drums, intensely passionate vocals and an ambitious multimedia backdrop, ranks among the genre’s most unpredictably joyous events. And their recordings continually venture where other electronic acts fear to tread.

ANDY C

Its truly an honour to have the artist who was recently crowned Best DJ in the world at the Drum&Bass Arena awards for an amazing 6th year in a row. As the past WEMF crowds can attest, his sets are the highlight of the weekend! Amongst a host of other accolades, Andy C is one of the most revered, successful drum & bass DJ’s of all time. Relentless as a DJ, travelling the globe week in, week out as well as releasing the highly acclaimed Nightlife series, he is also an accomplished producer. The highest ranking Drum n Bass DJ in djmag’s global top 100 list, there is a reason why he is known as the Executioner.

NOISIA

NOISIA (who took their name from the word ‘VISION’ inverted on an upside down VHS tape) are Nik Roos, Thijs de Vlieger and Martijn van Sonderen, hailing from the Netherlands. Influenced by an eclectic range of artists, from The Prodigy to James Brown, Miles Davis to Konflict, Noisia make music for DJs and dance-floors that is interesting enough to cross over from the clubs to your MP3 player. With countless awards from best drum & bass act to best producers, to remix duties for the likes of Katy Perry and Skrillex, NOISIA are a force to be reckoned with. WEMF2011 will see the North American debut of the very special stage show featuring all three artists mixing a combination of original tunes and live music.
